College Hockey Rivalry Draws Big Crowd in Northbridge

Northbridge Sports

NORTHBRIDGE — Fans packed the Northbridge Civic Arena on Friday night as the Northbridge Technical Hawks faced off against the Lakeview College Frost in a high-energy college hockey matchup that delivered intensity from the opening puck drop.

The Hawks took an early lead in the first period, but Lakeview answered back before intermission, setting the tone for a tightly contested game. After three physical periods, Northbridge secured a 4–3 win with a late third-period goal, sending the home crowd to its feet.

“It’s always a battle when these teams meet,” said Hawks head coach Daniel Mercer. “Both sides played hard, and the atmosphere was exactly what college hockey should be.”

The game attracted students, families, and local residents, highlighting the growing role college sports play in Northbridge’s community life. Organizers say attendance was one of the strongest of the season.

Both teams return to league play next week, with a rematch already anticipated later this winter.
